Empress Anna
Anna of Byzantium, also known as Porphyrogenita, meaning "born in the purple," was a Byzantine princess who became famous for her marriage to Grand Prince Vladimir I of Kiev and her influence on the Christianization of Kievan Rus'. Being of Armenian descent through her mother, she had a keen interest in Byzantine history. After her marriage, Anna spread Christianity and built churches in Rus', introducing the use of stained glass in churches during her reign. The princess was passionate about education and established educational institutions for priests, making her a significant figure in the history of Byzantine and Russian civilizations.
